"Trick--or--Treating"
on Halloween can pose various risks to our children.
Middlesex-London Paramedics
would appreciate it if you could broadcast some of the following
Public Service Announcements over the next few days:
- Paramedics want to remind parents
and children to plan on wearing bright costumes with reflective
striping this Halloween. Motorists can't see you if you're
wearing a dark costume.
- Paramedics are encouraging parents
to ensure that their children have flashlights with fresh
batteries in them before going out trick-or-treating.
- Paramedics want to remind parents
to plan a trick-or-treating route with their children before
they go out this Halloween. Young children should ALWAYS have a
responsible adult escorting them on Halloween night.
- Paramedics are reminding parents
and children to make sure that all treats are thoroughly checked
by an adult before being eaten.
- Paramedics are reminding children
to make sure that they stay on well-lit streets in familiar
neighborhoods this Halloween. Remember to look both ways before
crossing the street.
- Paramedics are reminding drivers
to drive very slowly and to be extra cautious this Halloween.
Children in dark costumes are difficult to see.
- Paramedics encourage everyone to
review their CPR skills before Halloween. Some candies can be a
choking hazard for small children.
- Paramedics are reminding adult
partygoers to ensure that they have a designated driver this
Halloween night. Drive slowly and pay attentions to our children
on the streets.
