The
“Cool Aid” program, implemented by Thames Emergency Medical
Services, provides a form in which people can record personal
medical information that can help paramedics administer the proper
treatment at the scene. The form is designed to be attached to the
front of a kitchen refrigerator by means of a magnet. Coming with
the form is a sticker to be placed on a front door or window to tell
paramedics the information is available.
The
"Cool Aid" form will help identify potential high-risk
patients. It will include information on current medical conditions,
past history, current medications, and allergies.
This
will ensure accurate information in stressful situations, which will
save time on the scene for paramedics and allow for quicker
treatment.
